Medical

The cornerstone to any employee benefit package, the Medical (and prescription) benefit plan typically commands the largest piece of the benefits budget and therefore the most attention.  Employees demand a comprehensive medical plan, and employers know how critical it is to attracting and retaining talent.  MBA works with employers to create a strategic plan, surveying the marketplace and evaluating all of the options.  We review benefit plan design, network structure, discount and rebate elements, and pricing controls to establish benefit plans that meet the employer’s objectives and provide employees with the most comprehensive coverage available to meet their needs.

Health Savings Accounts

MBA works with our clients to navigate the world of Consumer Driven Health Plans, including Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). We will help clients design a more affordable benefit plan, incorporating the tax-advantaged HSA plans alongside High Deductible Health Plans. Because of the complexities of the U.S. Treasury regulations on HSA’s, we take additional time to educate employees and their families on the intricacies of their plan, making the plan work as efficiently as possible for each member.

Health Reimbursement Accounts

Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs) have created an opportunity for employers introduce Consumer Driven Health Plans to their employees without the complexity and restrictions of Health Savings Accounts. HRAs are a great vehicle thru which employers can use the health plan to encourage employees to become more engaged in their health care program. Whether it’s using the HRA as a way to incorporate wellness incentives to enhance the benefits, or simply a lower-cost alternative to meet employee’s needs, the HRA is a flexible, functional plan option for employers looking for more control over their health care dollars

Dental

A solid dental program is a vital component of a comprehensive benefits program. Dental health has been directly linked to a person’s overall health status. Access to affordable, reliable dental care benefits ensures employees have the opportunity and the means to maintain healthy teeth and gums.

Vision

Annual eye exams are an important part of healthcare for all members, regardless of their age. Regular eye exams can help doctors to detect vision and even medical conditions. Even if a member is not in need of corrective lenses, it is important that they have access to vision professionals for their eye exam. With a wide array of choices in the marketplace for vision service providers, Milestone Benefits Agency, Inc. can help a client find the right fit- a plan with access to reputable professionals at a variety of locations.

Life

Too often, life insurance benefits get overlooked or cast aside as “not that important”. But life insurance is perhaps one of the most important benefits an employee can be offered- an opportunity to provide for their family even after their death. Employer-sponsored life insurance benefits are a great way to supplement an employee’s financial needs, creating income in the event of an untimely death of the employee. The life insurance policy can help provide emergency funds to cover legal, medical or funeral costs that would have otherwise put the family’s financial situation in peril.

Long Term Disability

One third of all Americans between the ages of 35 and 65 will become disabled for more than 90 days, according to the American Council of Life Insurers. In fact, one in seven workers will be disabled for more than five years! MBA will work with clients to procure a Long Term Disability benefit to offer employees that will help to protect their income in the event of a long-term illness or accident that renders them unable to return to work. Because of the differing definitions of disability and specific occupational requirements, it is important to secure a policy that meets the needs of your employee population in your industry.

Short Term Disability

Like Long Term Disability benefits (LTD), Short Term Disability (STD) is a benefit designed to protect income. Unlike LTD, STD benefits insure lost income due to acute illnesses, maternity leave and other absences employees would typically use sick leave or PTO to cover. Employer-offered STD benefits can be designed to coordinate with or even replace sick-leave policies. They can also be dove-tailed into an LTD benefit, protecting an employee’s income in the event that an employee is unable to return to work for an extended period of time. MBA works with employers to design an STD benefit that meets their needs, once again ensuring an employee’s Continuum of Economic Lifestyle™.

Long Term Care

Long Term Care is a type of insurance that pays for skilled, intermediate and extended care (either in your home or a skilled nursing facility) in the event that someone is disabled and unable to care for themselves. Long Term Care Insurance can be a critical factor in protecting a person’s life savings in the event they need long term care. At an average cost of $200 per day (that’s $73,000 per year!); it’s not hard to understand how long term care can bankrupt an individual pretty quickly. MBA can help employers to establish Long Term Care policies that will pay a benefit in the event of an extended care need. Because of the nature of the benefit (one that is not used as frequently as say, health insurance, but can actually end up being more valuable), it is crucial to find a policy with an insurance carrier who is likely to be able to pay the claim in the long-run.

Flexible Spending Accounts

MBA works with a variety of vendors who specialize in the administration of Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). We will help you and your employees to understand the many benefits of this tax-advantaged tool to aid in budgeting for health and dependent care expenses.

Voluntary Benefit Plans

Many times an employer does not have room in their budget to offer ancillary benefits to their employees, but there is still a demand for them. In these instances, MBA will coordinate with the employer to determine what line of employee-paid (or voluntary) benefits would be most appropriate as workplace offerings. Employees then have an opportunity to purchase, through payroll deduction, benefits they would otherwise be unable to access. Voluntary benefits can include such coverage as dental, vision, disability, sickness and accident, and life insurance.
