Milestone Benefits Agency, Inc. has assembled a team of knowledgeable, experienced staff with over 65 years of combined experience in the healthcare industry.  In addition, Kent K. Bermingham and Kent K. Bermingham II are both Certified Public Accountants by training.  These diversified backgrounds have provided a broad knowledge base from which to draw upon, and create a well-rounded approach to client management.
Our staff will actively participate in every aspect of the benefits planning process, beginning with a thorough plan design analysis and development of a long-term strategic vision.  We strive to provide unparalleled customer service for management, employees and their families always responding with a sense of urgency in a timely and professional manner.  We also take time to listen; your needs and concerns are what shape our approach to your plans. Kent K. Bermingham, CEO

Kent is the CEO and Founder of Milestone Benefits Agency, Inc. which began operations in 1998. A CPA by profession, he spent two decades on the financial side of the oil and gas industry. Kent first entered the healthcare arena in the late 80’s as Vice President of Washington Adventist Hospital in Washington, D.C.  After completing his service there, he moved to Columbus to take over as Executive Vice President and COO of Worthington Foods, Inc, which was later sold to Kellogg’s.
After a brief stint in retirement, and some time spent on archaeological digs in the Middle East, Kent re-entered the working world in the early 90’s where he worked once again in healthcare, forming a regional PPO that was later sold to Anthem.
After getting a taste of the insurance industry, Kent decided to embark upon another career in health insurance.  This desire led him to form Milestone Benefits Agency, Inc.  The agency was formed upon the premise of “outside-the-box” thinking, with the goal of finding new approaches to health insurance… in other words— achieving a new milestone in group benefits design.

Kent K. Bermingham II, President

Kent Bermingham II (aka Kent Jr.) joined MBA in 1999 and on January 1, 2009 was named the new President. Looking back over his career, Kent initially worked in various capacities of hospital administration within the Adventist Healthcare System in Maryland from 1991 to 1998. This included positions as a Purchasing Analyst, Materials Management Analyst, Decision Support Manager and finally as the Comptroller of Washington Adventist Hospital, one of their 300 bed acute care facilities. During this time he passed the Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) exam and also graduated with an MBA in Marketing from The John Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland. After leaving Adventist Healthcare in 1998, Kent accepted a Senior Analyst position in Aetna’s Strategic Business Division where he remained until joining MBA in 1999.
Kent has taken a more active role in sales and the overall management and direction of MBA as Kent Bermingham Sr. takes larger steps toward retirement and less involvement in the company’s day to day operations.
When not at work, Kent enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. Additional interests include watching the Columbus Blue Jackets, playing ice hockey for Mr. Mulch, golf, video games, tending to his marine fish tank, rock climbing and working out at the gym.

Stacy E. Green, Executive Vice President

Stacy joined Milestone Benefits Agency, Inc. in March, 2000 and served as a Vice President until 2010.  She became Executive Vice President in 2010.  After graduating from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Health Education, Stacy began her career in insurance in 1996 working with an independent insurance agent. Shortly after, she joined Medical Mutual of Ohio (MMO) as an Account Administrator in 1997. She subsequently held positions within MMO as a Service Consultant and later as a Sales Consultant.  Her experience working with an insurance carrier has provided her with a valuable perspective working as a broker. 
Stacy takes great pride in the service she provides to each of her clients and all of their members. She has extensive background working with both fully insured and self-insured funding arrangements, and is instrumental in putting together creative long-term strategies for her clients in an effort to forecast and reign in future medical costs.  Tapping into her background in Health Education and Health Promotion, Stacy enjoys coordinating Health Fairs and Wellness Events for her clients. She feels that educating employees on how the health insurance programs work is key in helping them to understand how much of an impact their own individual actions and health status can have on the overall costs of the plans. 
When not in the office, Stacy enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike and their two children.  While having two young children doesn’t allow for much spare time, Stacy does like to find time to exercise, travel with her family and watch her favorite TV shows, “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Entourage”.

Chad M. Smith, Vice President

Chad joined Milestone Benefits Agency, Inc. in July, 2003 and has served as a Vice President since that time. A graduate of the University of Dayton, Chad began his career in insurance in 1996 in the Administrative Services division at United Healthcare. He later moved into the Sales Department as an Account Manager. After nearly seven years with UHC, he was eager for the opportunity to join the MBA team. His experience working with an insurance carrier has provided him with a valuable perspective working as a broker.
He explains: "With the state of healthcare where it is today, I believe that the only way to fix this broken system that we have is to target the source of the problem and not simply throw money at it. Americans need to get healthier and better understand that the decisions that each person makes towards their diet, their addictions and just taking care of their bodies directly affects the claims cost that result in high insurance premiums. I hope that I am able to educate the people that I do come in contact with so that we can slowly start to help change the trend of rising healthcare costs."
When not in the office, Chad enjoys spending time with his wife Lindsay and their daughter and son. Most days, he can be found working out at the gym."I usually get into the gym about five days a week and find that if I don't, I get anxious and feel out of my routine. I suppose that's a good motivator."

Marie L. Zuniga, Senior Account Executive
Milestone Benefits Agency - Marie L. Zuniga

Marie Zuniga joined Milestone Benefits in January, 2010 after 25+ years of sales and management experience with several major carriers.  She started her career in Minneapolis with New England Life, as a medical Claim Examiner eventually moving into the sales office as a Service Representative.  Then Marie joined Great-West Life as a Manager of Account Management and soon moved into a sales role.   In 1986, Marie and her family were transferred to Columbus, Ohio, where Marie managed the Regional Sales office until 1992.  At that time she resumed personal production.  In 1995 Marie joined United Healthcare as an Account Executive and subsequently held several positions with UHC.  The positions included Senior Account Executive, Middle Market Sales Director and Self Funded Specialist. In 2003, she moved to Aetna as a Senior Account Executive for groups with 51 – 5,000 employees.  Marie has experience with group products including medical, dental, life and disability.  Her expertise includes experience with multiple funding mechanisms, national accounts, and multi site groups.

She has obtained the FLMI designation through LOMA and has completed 7 parts (of 10) of the CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) program.
Marie enjoys spending time with her husband, Lou, and their three daughters and their families.  Marie and Lou love to travel and look forward to the summer months when they can cruise around in Lou’s vintage Corvette.
